Fixing up the Spitfire (car)
Just found out what CCVT stands for:

CCVT Closed Cycle Vapor Turbogenerator

That would make sense as the gearbox pumps the silicon oil through the system to drive the mechanism. Fascinating.
The clever thing about this model is that it has a 'CCVT' gear box which allows you to vary the gear ratio, put the car in netral - or even go backwards. Restoringt this to former glory is an ongoing project.
Knob on the top of the transmitter for third channel - used to change gear on the CCVT unit.
CCVT unit reinforced with fibre glass cloth & resin – to prevent silicon oil leakage and prevent control arm snapping off. Not pretty – but effective. The gearbox casing was – in my view – a design fault & too weak for the job. Only sold as a complete unit in the 1990’s & not available anywhere today – I have never seen the gearbox on e-bay for sale & mint (unmade) models seem to fetch up £1000!
Super powerful 1700ma rx battery to power the gearbox servo.
